I'm having big fun now...390 display +

Well, spent the day making a calcium reactor and 3 media reactors. They're about 95% complete.

And a visitor walked up while we were working:

Thanks AJT. What part of Houston are you in?

South part called Clear Lake. I live about 5 miles from the water, great in the summer, bad in Hurricane season.

Watching you tank come together makes me want to upgrade....

I lived in Shore Acres in the early 90's. Mom lived in Clear Lake. I grew up in Galena Park. Brother still lives there.

Small world.

Those reactors look great.

If I only had room in the garage for a band saw & few other things, it would be great to make your own custom reactors.

Of course by the time I made one I was happy with , I could have bought & pd for 10.

Those look like you have done this before.

Well, I struggled with some bulkhead/pvc fitting leaks, but I have prevailed, or something like that. I added plumbing to the sump return pump to divert it back into the sump, and turned on the sump pump and 2 skimmer pumps, and they're still running with no leaks. So far, so good.

I still can't get over how great those reactors look. I like the circular base you put on the media reactors, very professional looking. Thanks for all your help in the build - what a great group.

Tank to about 70% full. All overflow boxes tested no leaks. Closed loops tested no leaks. Skimmer and pumps tested no leaks. The return is still plumbed back into the sump, until I can fill it all the way. The amount of water coming out of all those closed loop loc-line hoses is amazing!!! I have prior commitments tonight and tomorrow, so I'll fill it all the way and turn everything on Wednesday evening. I'm picking up my RO/DI this Saturday, so I will mix salt for the QT and turn it on this weekend. Progress!
I'm going to meed Chris at FAOIS Saturday am and pick up my calcium reactor pump, bubble counter, media plate, pvc bolts and nuts. (Thank you Carol) So I will have all the parts to finish the assembly.

Yes we are talking progress - congratulations mflamb! Have you had any thoughts on the first fish you will have in the 390? I added some new photos of my Possum Wrasse and Lubbock's Fairy Wrasse. The possum or Wetmorella nigropinnata is shy except in my tank - LOL. I love this guy, he is so much fun to watch. He is out moving in the front of my tank more then anywhere else. I thought it was going to take forever to get any photos - First night I filled my memory card! Just some ideas, the yellow and flasher are great also - ok I just love them all!

The first fish in will be a school of blue/green chromis. After I cycle the tank, I'll put 7-10 of them in and feed heavy to help the bacterial maturation process. Remember my sand and rock is all dry. I'll be using some Aragalive, and begging for some cups of sand from healthy systems to get it started. And then a school of Anthias, either Disbar, Bartletts, or Lyretail, or possibly 3 of each, only one male though, the rest females. These all get along as long as there is only one alpha male. Most of the rest of the fish will be fairy and flasher wrasses.

Hey Mike,

I'd be careful with that Arag-Alive stuff. Maybe I did something not quite right or something but mine turned to STONE in the bottom of my 90. One thing is I didn't mix it with any other kind of sand, who knows maybe that would make a difference. I think it wasn't 6 mos later it was hard as a rock. I also didn't have too many critters in there stirring the sand either.

Cant wait to see your setup. Sounds spectacular!
