Im in complete shock

We went out of town friday.

Last night I get a call from the tank sitter, all the fish are dead. Norman went by to remove the carnage, he said the corals looked ok.

He went back over today, and said that 80% of my corals are dead.

Total destruction.

Some peice of equipment tripped the gfci. The tank sitter I had was clueless.

Its all gone.

Im seriously on the verge of tears.

Pink lemoade, superman monti, nice big colonies, so much hard work and meticulous care. This is going to be a tough one to get over.

Sorry to hear that, Chuck. Hang in there, though. You'll get them all back and get to watch them grow again. The only time in over 12 years I ever thought about throwing in the towel was a few years ago when my RO somehow got a hole in it and flushed everything it'd filtered out back into the RO water (never thought the day would come...). I kept doing water changes and things kept getting worse. Softies and anemones were all that made it (both weeds for all intents and purposes-BTA's went from 2-8 in just a few days). MTRC is a great place for tragedies, though, as someone always has your back:). It ain't easy, though...

That's terrible. :(

Sorry to hear that, Chuck. I don't have any of the corals you mention, but I'm happy to give you some frags to get things started again. Did this happen really quickly? I can't imagine the stuff dieing in just a day or so with like no heat.

Terribly, terribly sorry to hear that, Chuck.

I have a few of your corals, bro, when you get ready. Just let me know.

Your tank was GORGEOUS. If there's anything I can do to help, please let me know.

Brandon

Chuck, this hurts my heart man. Ugh.

We'll be more than happy to help you with what we can as soon as you're ready to. We're getting ready to do some fragging in the near future, so just let us know.

It's moments like this that make me cringe thinking about how we all leave our tanks in the hands of our good friends/family when we go out of town thinking they are capable of dealing... If only the tanks were as simple as letting the dogs out to pee and making sure the cats have plenty of food, right?

OMG, that's horrible!!!! I'm so sorry to hear that..... I don't have that much stuffs since I had a crash myself awhile back. I can give you some zoas and caps which that's all I have that's doing well for me.

Chuck I am really sorry man. I traded in alot of my stuff a a few weeks ago but I still have some stuff I can frag just give me a pm. Anything we can do to help just let us know.

Blah. Well, the distress has pretty much washed over me and Im thinking of ways to do things better. Im still on vacation, so I haven't actually seen the forest of white coral. Ill post before and after pics when I get home, but I expect the stomach hurting process to start all over again when I get there :)

Im going to sell this 120g aquarium, the chiller, the lumenarcs and the dual pfo hqi ballast.

Im going to get a 150g rimless (I've got 6 extra inches to accomdate a 150 on the stand, due to the size of the sump) and a hanging T5 canopy. Does anyone have recommendations on the t5 fixtures? I saw a 10 light fixture on reefgeek for the price of a black market kidney.

Anyhow, think positive I guess.

This will also give me time to cook the rock and start fresh. If anything is still alive when I get home, Ill need some temporary baby sitters. :)

Fingers crossed.

Sorry to hear this :( Wish I could help out but I am tankless and all I kept is farmed out right now also. Good luck with the re build.

Sorry about your loss.

In your new setup look for auto resetting gfic's. When the power just blinks sometimes it will trip the GFIC. It's terrible to lose a tank because of something like this.

Chuck -- i am so sorry to hear what happened. Seems like murphy's law. I was on my honeymoon, and my acjr's temp probe went bad which of course caused the lights to not go on. Thankfully my pet-sitter called Emerald Bay and Sean came over and fixed it. I don't have too many sps but you are welcome to anything i have. You were going to hook me up so i hope i can return the favor when you are ready.

Jack

Chuck,

Man and I sorry to hear about your tank. WOW. I wish I had some of that Lemonade to give back to you, but I never got a frag of that. I do have some others from you like the green with blue rim cap and the green milli. Dont forget, I am just around the corner should you need anything.

good luck bro!

Dude, if I had any corals to give you, I'd totally get you some stuff when you need to get set up later. But I'm virtually coralless, so I've got nothing to give.

I'm really sorry to hear about it.

I can get you a piece of the PL. Mine is starting to grow for me:). I can find a few more nice things, me thinks.
