Thanks guys. I wish I was better with the camera. I think I've pretty much nailed fish tank photography, but outdoors stuff is still far from perfect. That sunset was AMAZING and I feel like I didnt even come close to capturing it. The water looked so amazingly blue and the clouds were insanely pink, but I guess I needed to do some more post processing to bring that out. As it looks in the picture, the water is blue but not the deep intense blue it looked in real life.
I used my wide angle because I wanted to get the sunset plus the mountains off to the right and the city of Anchorage (which you cant really even see since it's so far away) and it of course made the background objects look so far away they arent really discernable. Next time I think I'm going to use a much longer lens and see if I can bring out some of the background.
All in all, I had a good day for photography. My wife is in her second trimester of pregnancy and we are trying to stay active so she is in good shape, it supposedly makes the labor easier so I'm trying to combine hiking around and taking walks with photography, I'm hoping I keep getting lucky and finding good subjects!
