My tank is 6-7 months now. I am stocked as a FOWLR with foxface, toby, firefish, vermiculated angel, gob & pistol, and a lawnmower. Prety friendly group. I have a 2-3" maxi mini carpet that is doing very well. I would love a Nem for my clown, just dont think my tank is quite ready. though i would love a purple condy ( not sure of their name ). Should I do one. BTW, my pumps are koralia nano 425's, not sure how they can cause a problem or not.

Well assuming your lights are sufficient and your parameters are appropriate, you can get a bta. What makes you think your tank isn't ready?

Condylactis gigantea, very nice anemone to have. I have one and like it a lot. They can get big though 12 - 16" ... it has a predator and that is the red-legged hermit crab. In the same tank I have RBTA so they will coexist. My cleaner shrimp are actually being hosted by my Condy.

When you shop for them you'll see lots of white ones and the LFS will tell you that's normal. It is not. Try to get the darkest one they have, and once you get it home and acclimated you'll need to target feed. They are very resilient though and will make a nice addition to your tank.

Condy's have a stronger sting, and can harm fish more easily.
I'd go for a BTA, and it's a host species nem.
Sometimes clowns do adapt and accept a condy as host, but just too many better options IMO.

My parameters are right on. I have been told in an earlier thread that I should really wait a year prior to getting a hosting nem. I suppose allowing the water to age properly. I follow most of the advice offered to me on this site. So, thats why I was going on the year theory. I would love a RBTA for my clown, just dont want to lose one.

If you're ready for a Condy, you're ready for a BTA. Six months should be good enough for a nem. IMO you should stay away from a condy. They really aren't hosting nems. A BTA is no more difficult to keep than a condy, and fish will more readily use one for a host.

Very true... Only thing I would say is that even if you get a BTA there's no 'guarantee' that your fish will go to it so don't be disappointed if they don't.

Agreed, this is very sound advice. After 6 mos. you should be fine, but lighting requirements can be of concern for proper care of anemones- please consider this- halides are prefered, but lots of t5 can work too- but remember these are light lovers- keep this in mind.

I took your advice and purchased a GBTA....
