Alicia and Ian, that's great to hear. How long did
it take to get a moderate amount of coralline coverage on the rocks? I'm just afraid it would take forever to get the coralline on there. It always seems like coralline prefers to grow on the glass over the rock. I'm going to pay Neptune a visit tomorrow and will probably pick some up.
I am really happy with my Marco Rock. I went exclusively Marco Rock and sand with a few hand picked pieces in my shipment. I ended up with to much rock but now I have some rock for down the road if I need to add any or change my rock structure in the future. There was no life on my rock to speak of, purely dead base rock, but the size, structure, and porous nature of it is sweet. I love seeing one of my Resplendent Hybrids come cruising out of the center of a rock from a hole you would never imagine a fish would emerge from. It's kind of mind blowing. I added two small pieces of Fiji live rock to the structure in the beginning to get some life going on it. I may eventually pull those two pieces out, not sure at this point. I think you will be happy with a mixture of the two rocks.
sang just stay in the hobbie a lil longer with this tank and the colalline will take care of itself.
is it set up yet? did that ballast arrive. i assumed but never heard.
cheers to talk builds and fun projects..
just set up the tank yesterday. It's just running with marco rock and freshwater. I'm going to drain it and add rodi water when i am over this bad cold. Here is a pic of the tank and stand. Sorry for the quality as my camera is lost. I had to use my iphone for the pic.
