you could bring them thursday most likely shawn, but it would have to be like between 7 and 8. I wont be home till 7 and the kids go to bed at 8. I cant be sure I will even be home by 7 though.....maybe friday would be better. I will end up going straight to Bob's after work at 5pm to get my snails, I could come by your place after that, we could meet at Bob's, or you could come by my place after Bob's.

I haven't talked to anyone at LA about the logistics of shipping. I'm not sure what stuff comes out of california and what stuff comes out of wisconsin. if anyone knows that, please explain it to me.
my understanding of shipping is based solely upon what they say on the web site on this page:

as I understand it, we pay $35 flat rate shipping, unless the order goes over $225, then we pay $40 flat rate shipping. that's based on the assumption that everything gets shipped out of one location. if something added to the order has to be shipped out of a second location, there's a $15 add on fee for FedEx-ing the second package by priority overnight, which is a pretty good deal, IMO.
it looks like the group order will exceed $225, and because everyone wants something different, we should expect that things will probably end up getting shipped out of two locations. i think its a safe bet that we should expect to pay $40 + $15 for shipping, and just split up the $55 (or whatever the total shipping cost turns out to be) among whoever gets in on the order.

those anthias sure are pretty. i'd be all over them if i had a big tank like yours. as it turns out, one of the things that i was planning on picking up was a school of little chromies. your chromies are HUGE. did you buy them that big, or did you grow them up from little chromies? $3 for big chromies like yours is a killer deal.

mike, in all honesty i don't think that my tank setups would really suit a school of 5 big chromies like that, so they'd probably have a better life in your tank. my biggest tank is only going to be 90g, and i think that a bigger school of the little guys would end up working better in a 90 than a smaller school of the bigger guys. in the big scheme of things, i think that the bigger chromies would prefer a tank size upgrade instead of a tank size downgrade, so i think you should take them. but thanks for the offer.

I'm thinking about closing the door on adding new people to the order. We've got 4 people now, and that really helps to defray the shipping charges. Adding more people at this point would add to the logistics of placing the order and having people come by for pickup, without having much further impact on shipping. So I think we're kind of reaching the point of diminishing returns.
If anyone is interested, send me a PM. Right now it looks like Bob, Shawn, Mike and Mike. If you guys have any need to make last minute changes, please do so ASAP. I'd like to get all of the details hammered out by suppertime.

OK, here's how things are shaping up:
We've got Pescadero, BigEvil1, Fuppets and Aquaticman74 er, I mean Darth Breadman (!) :lol: in on the order. If everyone follows through we'll split shipping 4 ways.
the order is going to be in the $300 range, so the base shipping cost will be $40. I'm not sure yet whether it will all ship from one location, or whether it would ship from two locations and result in a $15 surcharge. Right now it looks like its all going to ship from one location, but I won't know for sure until I get the final invoice. Plan on shipping costing $10 to $14 per person, or whatever an equal share of the actual cost turns out to be.
