So this certain fish was the reason why i got into this hobby 2 years ago though i havent been able to get one because of the price/avalibility. So today after helping my friend move into his new fish store i stopped by another lfs just to mess around and see some eye candy. Well the fish ive been wanting forever was there! I asked the owner what the price was and he said 125. I didn't take a breath and said ill take her. This was better then any birthday or christmas! So your probably wondering what the fish is. :) Well here she is!

See if she eats NLS, just drop a few in, might as well, if she doesn't oh well, but if she does than GREAT!

Congrat on a beautiful addition. That's the lowest price I've seen and not even ny aquatic can match.

I suggest the BL be quarantined for a month to acclimate in eating prepared food before moving it into DT and also treat for possible internal parasites once you see the can handle it. The BL looks to be about 5.5"+ and if it is don't be surprise it will take some time for the fish to eat prepared food. Don't overfeed in the QT and just try a different type often in small portion.

Good luck and keep the pictures coming.

Sorry i'm a noob, you'll have to tell me what sort of fish this is. However if there is one thing i do know, it's that you are NEVER supposed to handle your fish. :eek1:

you shouldnt man handle them but I always handle my fish 2 times. once when transferring to QT. and again when transferring to the DT. I would never use a net of my babies. It gives me a chance to be close to them :)

Not true. A hand is much kinder/smoother than a net when transferring your fish.

Awesome find!! I can't believe the price too. I agree with a long quarantine and treat with praziquantal. Best of luck with her.

Congratulations, she's a beauty! She's so fat and pretty I'd want to pick her up, too (just to move her, of course). :p

That is a very nice catch.

I would also highly recommend QT and treating for flukes with Prazipro. Try Hikari mysis.

Not to be the downer here, but I hope you didnt get a "too good to be true" deal. Big Chaetodontoplus angels like that sometimes never eat. Also, you'll want to treat as mentioned to ensure theres no pareasite issues. I personally, would never buy a fish that wasnt at least eating in front of me, or in front of someone I trust, regardless of the price. Particularly in a genera like this.

I hope Im wrong. Good luck.

Is it better to get him eating before treating with prazi, since it tends to kill appetites, especially if there are no glaring signs of a problem at this point?

I think there are arguments for both sides. My personal feeling from experience is to treat first as parasites tend to often keep them from eating well and if there are parasites by the time you see them it has already advanced.
