IMAX Mantis Video

Saw a preview the other night for the IMAX Deep Sea 3D movie. I thought the commercial said it was coming to DVD. I missed it when it was playing locally - The clip show a brief glimpse of what I thought was a mantis-

So I checked the IMAX website tonight and found a pretty neat (albeit brief) clip of a mantis - It shows the mantis defending it's burrow from an octopus - My internet connection sux so it's kinda hard to tell if it's a legitimate encounter or overlaid

Anyway, thought I'd share - Sorry if this has been posted before, I just found it

That was one sweet video. the way he tried to make himself look larger by spreading out his claws, awesome.

The sequence was shot in Southern Californian waters and shows a Hemisquilla californiensis attacking a bimac. The threat behavior is typical as is the attack strategy of diving up into the water column and flying in from above. If the octopus manages to come in from the side or cover the burrow with the stomatopod inside, very often the mantis is dinner.

Man thats really cool. When I was in vegas during the middle of november, i remember seeing the poster for this at the Imax theater in the pyrimid casino (forget the name) Now i wish i would have taken the time to watch it. =0[
