Impact of Hypo on wrasse

Hi all,

Does anyone have any experience they can share in treating a Purple lines fairy wrasse, Cirrhilabrus lineatus with Hyposalinity?

I picked a beautiful male up the other day however he has developed a severe case of whitespot in quarantine and I have started to lower salinity.

Currently at 1.020, down from 1.026 in .002 increments in the last two days. As at this morning he is on the bottom breathing heavily after eating well and swimming normally last night.

Not sure if it is reaction to the Hypo or the infection?

I have three Decora Gobies (Nemateleotris decora) along for the ride and they are not showing any signs of distress at all.

Likely not the hypo causing the distress. Lowering salinity increases oxygen solubility in water. If the fish has a severe case as you described, the infection has severely affected the fish's gills in addition to the spots visible externally.

I would drip the fish in to 1.010 in an hour or less. I did that with two Pseudochromis fridmani and both handled it without a flinch.

Teleost fish can handle lowering salinity over very short time and especially with a heavy infection I wouldn't waste time with slow acclimatization over several days.
