Sounds like Robert is willing to pick up the reins. Thank you. And then there's Thysrof's classic line: "If we all do a little, no one has to do too much".
The club has a strange perpetual momentum, where even when things look bleak organizationally, some form continues on. The downside is when solid members such as Sean try to do the right thing, it can result in frustration.
When I joined the club eight years ago, we used to meet monthly during the week, on the 3rd Friday of the month as I recall. If weeknight meetings are more accessible for people, then switching back to those makes sense. With my current schedule, that's less convenient for me, but I would still try to make them versus blowing them off categorically.
Summer weekend meetings have been popular because of kind members such as Bob opening up his wonderful house and pool for our use. Pool party meetings at Bob's are always a good time. Chrispy also invited us to his winery one beautiful summer day, which was awesome. And we've field tripped to the Cal Academy of Sciences on the weekend thanks to another member's connection. Recently there was Carlos' magic pizza oven. Mmmmmm.
Frequency of meeting (monthly versus semi-monthly) might be worth discussing.
Food, drink and raffle are fun components of our meetings. Add a special event or guest speaker and it's even more delightful. I personally think the raffle is a good thing and should be continued. I also like a potluck, as many small contributions from members means no one has to do it all.
It's our club. We can do as little or as much as we want. What are people wanting to do?
