I just forwarded your feedback over to Amy. Many customers she speaks to or exchanges emails with just ask for her directly because she's so good. We actually prefer building relationships that way so we are more familiar with your aquarium. :D

If the aquarium is 3' wide and is a mixed reef, you can get away with two A160WE's.

If the aquarium is 4' wide and/or if you are looking to keep a lot of SPS corals, the better option would then be two A360WE's.

Thinking about switching to these for a standard 125 from my ATI sunpower. For a mixed reef w/ SPS would four work?

I have one center brace so would hang 2 per 3ft section. Worried about penetration to the bottom. Tank is the standard 21 inch height.

Thanks

Hi JWClark,

Thanks for your inquiry. 4 Kessil's on your 6' 125 gallon mixed-reef should work nicely. You will want to place the lower-light corals towards the bottom half and the SPS corals towards the upper half. 21" depth is no problem as long as you place the corals according to their light requirements.

If you have any other questions, please let us know.

Hi JWClark, That would be a good option as well. The A360WE are more powerful so it will give you more flexibility just in case you need/want more light. If you are planning to use the Kessil Spectral Controller, this will also work out nicely as the controller has two channels so you can control the A160WE's on one channel and the A360WE's on the other.

Hi Jonnyu,

The three 360WE's would be the better option for your aquarium. Each A360WE is more than double the power of a A160WE (86W vs 40W).

Each of the A360W will cover up to 24" area. For a FOWLR you could probably get a bit wider spread out of them by mounting higher. With such a long tank I would say a minimum of x3 for even light spread and x4 for best coverage.

I'm thinking about these for my Red Sea reefer 350 that is 47"x20x 21"deep. Would 2 160s be ok for just soft corals?

For a tank of this size, I would typically recommend two of the A360WE instead to get full, even coverage. With the A160W, you would end up with dark spots on the edges of the tank and be limited with corals. For soft corals, the A160WE will provide plenty of light penetration but the spread may not look all that great.
