in the market for a new camera set up

I have this camera right now. It works just fine because it is waterproof and has a supermacro feature that allows me to take decent shots.

I also have a canon 900 which is more for when we go out of town.

Because I am a reefer, I want more. I am in the early stages of looking for a nice digital and eventually a 105 lens.

What should I be looking into? What are some of the main charaterisics that I will need? I like my canon, but I have also heard nikon is decent and olympus has a new version out. My wife is always complaining about shutter speed; Is this a worry with this type of camera.

Any suggestions, readings, sites I should look at.

When looking for electronics of any type, I always look at the reviews on CNET.com. I think the favored camera right now is the Nikon D80. A friend of mine just bought this bad boy. It's a great camera (has 16 focal points) but its very expensive.

You can also get a Nikon D40 or D40x for less. They are all great cameras. The best thing you can do is to go to a camera shop and hold all the cameras in your hands to see if you like the feel of them.
