In-wall 380gal tank - cut out options

Looks like Harvel LXT, which is blue in pictures but all of it I have here is purple. I sometimes wonder with the way some on RC are so particular and exactly scientific why nobody has said you must use LXT on a reef. But its easy, 1" is about $10 a foot and 2" is $24 a foot. And they wont sell you a foot.

Cycling with uncured live rock... Messy business

Alk 11 dKH
Ca 320
pH 8.15
Temp 76
Salinity 1.025

NH4, NO2, NO3 all unmeasurable

Skimmer now creating about 1/2 quart every day
Diatom bloom mostly gone

BUT... Hair algae :(

I'm sure it's hard to avoid with uncured live rock, but still...

This pic looks great. I love the expansive life on a reef. Uncured live rock is messy but isn't that interesting as well as exciting!

Well... I would do it somewhere other than my DT... But the DT is so large, nothing else fits in the garage. LOL.

I'm still adding sand buckets to the refugium section.

Here's the basis of my CO2 scrubber - it's a cheez balls tub :)

Upcoming DIYs being planned:

- CO2 scrubber
- concrete fish housing under overflow
- kalkwasser ATO upgrade
- nighttime vinegar / batch bacteria
- evaporation-less plastic sheet on aux containers
- plastic wire overflow install
- calcium reactor
- UV LED upgrade
- outside mangrove greenhouse
- Mylar curtains for increased lighting
- exhaust fan for humidity control
- RODI waste water garden recycling.

Not in order.

I'm interested in all but maybe one these three first:

-CO2 scrubber
- kalkwasser ATO upgrade
- nighttime vinegar / batch bacteria

Ok. CO2 scrubber...

The choice of plumbing is based on whatever leftovers I had. I ran out of 1" PVC so I can't plumb it in until tomorrow. The 2" PVC Ts at the top are separated with a plastic sheet so the air flows down into the scrubber and then back up.

Adding a couple more and prioritized

- CO2 scrubber
- Active Carbon / GFO Reactor
- Nighttime vinegar / batch bacteria
- Kalkwasser ATO upgrade
- UV LED upgrade
- Evaporation-less plastic sheet on aux containers
- Plastic wire overflow install
- RODI waste water garden recycling.
- Mylar curtains for increased lighting

The above by November

- Concrete fish housing under overflow
- Calcium reactor
- Exhaust fan for humidity control

By January

- DT to Sump forced flow (bubble reduction)
- Outside mangrove greenhouse

By March?

:)

Start of a carbon reactor made from leftover parts

The black container is a perfect fit around the 3" acrylic scrap. It was an old F.O.R.M. (Funky Old Reef Mud) container.
