In Wall 400g DT (600g+ System)

Wow you are also good in welding stuff :D
That's what you call versatility!!
Those shelves are coming up pretty nice.

Congrats on those new corals!!
About the white on the tips, it's not quite clear from the photo. But make sure there is no Alk swings and also about light acclimatization. Alk swings and also too bright light too soon can lead to SPS go white.

Everything seems gelling in... Keep it up and waiting for your updates :)

Happy Reefing!!

Thanks, I wished I was that skilled, he is my company's blacksmith, as of now, he is really talented building canopies, stands and whatever is involved with metal and aquariums, lol.

I got my CA Reactor hooked up and I've been measuring my Alk and Ca for over a month now, as of now, I got it at 9.5 DKH and CA at 400ppm, I have boosted CA Reactor's production to achieve 11 DKH and CA 450ppm, would this levels be good?

Thanks.

Juan,

Smart idea to weld in more supports.

White tips usually means new growth.

Thanks Jim, I think so too, I don't want to put up stress to the middle section of the tanks.

thanks, hope they are really growing so I can begin having some big colonies :)

How is your tank doing?

Tanks are okay. Although, I noticed the vortech wasn't on in the FT and I noticed a little rtn on some of the corals. SPS sure are sensitive little suckers.

:D can you frag ur welder and ship him to me when I'm gonna start a new build!! Ur skilled and skill is contagious :)

Hm the Ca level you are trying to achieve seems fine but about the Alk, imho since you are gonna add ZeoVit, it's recommended to keep it between 7-8 dkh.
Make sure the pH is monitered closely. Coz any rapid change in any parameter can make those SPS go kaput.:uhoh2:

Totally agree with him gimmito on "SPS are sensitive lil suckers" :D

Sorry about the SPS not doing very good, have you checked water params in the FT?

Thanks Nup :)

I will try to frag my welder but I think he might not like it too much LOL.

My PH has been around 8.20 - 8.29 since a month ago as my alk has been stable, I will try monitoring today and target the levels you mentioned above, I think I will have to manually dose the CA just to let the Alk lower a bit.

Hiya Juan,
Lol on fragging ur welder. Always a plus when you hav skilled people working for ya :)

Yea about the Alk gradually bring it down. Would be good to manually dose Ca and monitor Alk drop and once uv reached the target, maintain it at that stable level. Then you can set up ur Ca Reactor and/or Kalk Reactor and keep up with the demands of your SPS.
At present in my tank I'm manually dosing 2 part and keeping the levels stable. My pH ranges between 8.1-8.2, Alk at 7.7 dkh, Ca at 450ppm in my last testing. But as I'm adding more corals the demands gonna increase, so il have to test and adjust my dosing as required. I do have a plan to install a Kalk Reactor in future.
The key is making any adjustments in parameters as gradual as possible, with water changes and diligent use of additives. IMHO since you will be dosing Zeo its better to get the parameters to the Zeo requirements and start with the dosing so you can reap maximum benefits :)

Happy Reefing!!

You can low to Calcium reactor, I thought the same when I had a KH 12 and Ca 420 in my sps aquarium, I lowed it flow and Kh got estabilized in 8.1 and Ca in 440 without need adding extra calcium.

In wich values are your NO3 and PO4 ? Is very important for your sps.

Thanks Nup! will lower it as slow as possible, don't want huge swings to alter the SPS :)

Luis, thanks for the info, as of now NO3 and PO4 are at 0, this is because I got Vertex Bio Pellets running in two fluidized reactors 24/7, also, I'm running another reactor with Activated carbon and both of these are complementing each other to maintain this parameters at 0.

Thanks for watching and nice seeing another countryman around.

The main structure is painted, I will let it dry a couple of days so all fumes are gone before placing it back in the fishroom.

Now I need to cover the wood boards with Formica and the shelf is ready to receive QT and FT setups.

what trade of test did you use ? Some tests do not report low levels.

If NO3 and PO4 is zero, you will have to add aminoacids and other nutrients for corals health.

I'm using for Nitrates, API Test kit (Which ain't too detailed) and for Phosphates I got Hanna Checker Colorimeter, I will run it again as I haven't seen results on this since a month ago.

Will post results here tomorrow, thanks.

Fully tested my water today, here are the results:

Salinity 1.024 (Low)
Ammonia 0
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 0
Phosphates 0.03ppm
Alk 10 dKh
Ca 410 ppm
Mg 1320 ppm
Temp 78.5F (Average)
Ph 8.25 (Average with 0.5 +/- Swings during the day)

Comments or suggestions?

You just reminded me I need to test my tanks. lol.

I think sg needed to be brought up a bit, but otherwise everything looks pretty good. I did water changes before the tank tour and the bio pellets didn't start up for some reason. I think I might leave it off line for now...just getting tired of cloudy water.

Hey Juan,
The salinity needs to be upped a lil.
IMHO Ca too needs to be upped since ur gonna add more SPS. It will also help the coralline build up too ;)
And Alk too, it's is lesser than uv checked last time, right? So it's gradually coming down from 11. That's cool.

Rest are all el perfecto :)
Preferably adjust these settings and then go coral shopping and fill up ur beautiful tank :)

Happy Reefing!!

LOL Jim, how was the tour?

Thank you Nup! :D

Yes, Alk is getting a little lower, I increased the PH Range within the CA Reactor, as it ain't fulfilling the daily demand it will begin to decrease slowly.

I bought today some Calcium buffer and will increase it slowly, I will target 430 to 440ppm, is this good?

Thanks.

Everything looking in track Juan!!
Keep testing at this stage when parameters are being changed.
The tank is gonna come up great!
Keep us all posted :)

Thank you very much Nup! :D

Calcium is right now between 430ppm - 440ppm as I have been supplementing it last couple of days, almost 15ppm per day, will target 450 to 460ppm, dKh is at 9.9 still, will slow down the CA Reactor a little more so this number drops a bit.

Shelf now in place and QT tanks ready with their top cover, holes done and UNISEALS in place:

I re arranged the shelf's levels (<- right word?), good are now sitting underneath the sump's level re arranged, with this, the QT's have clear space above them up to the ceiling.

And here is the FT spot, now ready to receive the tank once it's done:

And a quick picture of my Bird Nest from the day I placed it in the tank and how it is looking now:

I have been raising my Calcium as it was in the 400's, as of now it is around 430 - 440 (Will check tomorrow), target will be 460, alk is at 9.9 dKH. :)

Welcome anytime Juan.
Yessss parameters are getting there and where you want them!!
Cool.
Your build gonna be awesome....it's already awesome and so gonna get awesome :D

The QT tank and shelves setup is masterclass!!
It's looking beautiful and professional and it sure does put some LFS to shame.
Your vision is beautifully coming into a reality.

That coral pic uv put up is really an inspiration and gives me hope, that I too get my 2 frags up n healthy. Thanks for your compliments on my thread.

So now that your QT is setup, what's on your fish wishlist :D
