indigo dottybacks locally ?

Has anyone seen the ORA indigo doty backs locally recently ? (they are a hybrid of an orchid and neon dottyback, IIRC).

PetCo was reported as carrying them, but the ones in our area apparently have some pretty clueless people managing the fish livestock, since when I talk to the "aquatics manager" their eyes glaze over when I ask about them (which is sad, since the one by our house used to employ some pretty sharp and informed people).

We will be down in the SJ area this coming weekend and would love to know if anyone has seen these fish recently.

Thanks :)

I have seen them available from ORA last year, but I have not heard from them in over 6 months. Not returning emails or phone calls. The Indigo was pretty pricey back then, but who knows now.

hmmm, we were at AG two weekends ago.. but didn't see one then. Then again the last 2 times we went to AG it seemed to us that they had alot more to "show" than to sell. Almost everything we inquired about was either sold (ok, I get that, and am not really complaining) and the rest was in a tank that "we don't sell fish out of there" or "We would never be able to catch that fish for you" They had lots of great livestock, but darn near none of it to actually buy and take home. :(

We have a "shopping" list for this coming weekend, to check out a couple of South Bay LFS (SJ, Campbell, Fremont, etc).

Bipartus leopard wrasse (preferrably male.. but if not then 2 females)
Indigo dottyback
male green spotted mandarin

and we saw a hybrid tang at AG that just knocked our socks off (but it was in a tank that they could not/would not catch him). That was likely a good thing as I know that they can be a bit on the agressive side, especially once they get established, but dang it was beautiful. The guy working there (really nice guy, but for some reason I can never remember his name :(). told us that it changed color quite often, aparently to suite it's mood. It looked to be a cross between a Powder Brown and something else. The body was dark, almost black, and the colors stripes/highlights on the top and bottom fins were extremely striking and bright. Just a definite eye-catcher.

I just spoke with Dr Le at AG (I know he has a family and a life, but I really wish he were there more often :)). It turns out it was a goldrim tang, not a hybrid as I was previously told. I am still in awe of the colorations on that tang. :)

Man you still have room for more fish?

How about ordering this HT from LA

Goodness yes we have more room :), between the display tank, sumps and the new skimmer (when it arrives next week) our total water volume will be over 600g. But we are planning several fairy wrasse small harems, so I only have a few other types of fish that we plan to add.

Unfortunately that scopas doesn't do anything for me :(. But I am sure that someone would really like it. It probably also looks better in person :)
