Inflections in posts

Guys and gals I dont mean to sound crude or anything but some of the posts i have been reading can be taken wrong ... Just remember that I cant hear that you are joking so it sounds rude or mean and I am sure you dont mean it Smilies help

Just read your post before you post it and think is that LFS guy going to think I am being mean? Just kidding about what I think but read it and try to make it sound mean!!!

I agree, Brian. People don't realize that the written word can have a "tone" as well as the spoken one.

It means thoughtful straight talk without meaness or hidden meanings.I mean it's the opposite of what politicians do. You never really know what they mean because most of them think they're so smart they say a lot but not anything meaningful and when questioned on a statement later they brush it off explaining they didn't mean it the way you heard it. Now that is mean.:fish1::fish1:

Politicians use the term VACILLATING the situation. :lol2: (no pun, sarcasm or ill meaning is meant by me fyi). Bachelors degree in poli sci and I think thats all I learned. They tell you what you want to hear and then when they say something wrong they pretend that you were wrong. Funn stuff.:hmm5:

actually... I think the problem starts when you believe you can tell someone's inflection from a post. JMO.

IMO/IME not only can you NOT tell inflections from an online post...

but in many cases you can't tell if the advice you're receiving is "good" or not.
Some people can sound like they know what they're talking about when in reality they don't. Others forget that generalizations should be avoided if at all possible.

That's when I usually step in...

I don't think anyone means to be mean. I think many times people confuse bluntness as being mean. A strong opinion with some passion is a good thing.
