Influencing Acropora Color???

IMO, feed as much as your skimmer/etc can handle exporting.

Personally, that means I'll feed a `mush' food a couple times a week - though it has built up to this quantity as I became assured I could export all the waste.

Good thing...

I have a ASM G2 on my 75gallon with 7 fish
do you think this is good skimming?

its rated up to I think 200gallons?
which really means about 125...

It seems reasonable, but will vary on the metabolic activities of the individual fish--i.e. active fish, slow fish, etc. If you are getting the desired results with it, it is most likely enough skimming. In my 75, I only have one fish (because the others were eaten) fed once or twice a week and use a Deltec APF600. My results tell me there is enough skimming (maybe more than enough).

I'll post my color ups. I was given 3 badly brown cluster sps colonies. It took a few months but they have colored up very nicely. I'll try to get some updated decent pics tommorrow.

Expect a minimum of a month to 4 months to get the color completely back. Even then, it can take longer depending on how bad it was. It should still grow however.

Spec is one thing, reality another sometimes.

I run a bullet 2 on my 58 with 6 fish [half tiny gobies] ... perhaps I'm not the best to ask about what `normal' skimmer sizing is :lmao:

But you're the best judge of if it handles stuff - that and time.

Good nutrients, good lighting, good flow, you have a good chance. Some corals just can't color up in our conditions, and that's just the way it is. Some corals are just brown in the wild so, you're stuck with that. Try your best, you might be lucky. A lot of the brown outs "specials" that you can get from suppliers are ones that are that way because of how they're held out in the facilities in the Pacific. Basically an unlit tank with minimal circulation for a couple of days. It's a lot of stress, but try your best, you'll be surprised at what you can get with those brown out special deals.

I think I might... get one.. and see how it does... Anyone know of any good wholesalers to get brownouts from that they have good luck with?
