Informal get together for locals

i've been dosing Dr. Tim's ammonium chloride solution to get the ammonia spike going. it finally went down about three days ago and the nitrites shot up, so it's going, just not nearly fast enough for my liking. i think this weekend i am going to bring over some substantial chunks of rock from the old tank.

there will eventually be about another 90 pounds or so of rock from my current tank in there as well, but that's the basic structure. i got cyano and diatoms covering everything pretty good. won't be long now.

It's looking very nice Mongo. Once the nitrites spike it goes fast so you are over the worst now. I missed what your plans are for this tank...a mixed reef or is it for any specialty creatures?

waterfront= station square or Lowe's movie theater waterfront? How is your move going - cant wait for the frags. we need to chose a specific place- with adult beverages for those wishing to indulge.

Either of those is fine at about say 4 pm on the second or third Saturday afternoon? Opinions or alternatives people?

Any of those locations work for me but my Saturdays in August are limited. I might be able to make the 3rd Saturday but can't say for sure. Anyway go ahead and plan what works best for everyone else and I will catch back up with you all in September.

Ted and Jesse, the corals you guys gave me are doing great and are nice additions to my reef. Thanks!

An upgrade of my current mixed reef, and the 35 cube next to it will be sharing the sump as a display refugium that houses my pipefish, harlequin Shrimp, and some other nano fish.

I have lots of pics of the whole process I'll probably post at some point in the future. Just gotta get time to edit them.

Thanks for doing this! I'm in Millvale. I should be able to attend but it's always a bit touch and go with me being pregnant/having a toddler. I know a friend is having a shower for me in August but not when, so it might end up overlapping.

OK - well we are definitely getting there. 13 people on the list- even if we get 1/2 per monthly "Get together" - that makes for a nice group to have a coffee/beer and help each other out, learn from each others experiences, just chew the fat , etc.

IN the first discussion Jesse ,Dawn, and I also talked about having a "round robin" type of hosting at each others homes to check out each others tanks, etc. So, we could do that occasionally as well - for whom ever wishes to host- no pressure.

We should probably get each others emails. etc. to communicate more efficiently. But we can do that down the road as well. I wish the official PMASI club site was up as that would be easier as well- plus we could invite all the active club members to stimulate the actual official club to participate and become more active again. If anybody knows anything about the club please share info on it.

I will post the list again, update it regarding name location and new contacts, and post In/out/possibly/or no contact for each person regarding the August 15th or 16th dates in a few days. Again , all comments and/or ideas are welcome on how to do this.

Its nice to know we are not alone out there. This is a hobby that takes some dedication and getting some help and encouragement from others sure helps.

Hey all, just wanted to check in. My schedule varies, greatly, so I don't really want to give input on a particular day as any one is more or less the same as the next.

I am looking forward to meeting, and am going to try to pull some softies frags for anyone who might want them - I also have a hefty batch of phytoplankton (started from DT's) if anyone is in need of some.
