inking xenia and iodine

Hello a couple days ago I bought a pulsing xenia. I brought it home and added to my 3 gallon pico. All fine and well full of life looking good. The xenia wasn't standing straight up so I tried to help it in doing so it let out a purple fluid or mucus and shriveled. I ask a few people and read on wikipe that this is normal. Since then no life from it. A lot of people say to give it time. Others have said they have used iodine to help in the healing. My question is I have a iodine used for people, cuts. Is this the same iodine? Is iodine, iodine? Thanks

I wouldn't dose iodine into the tank. There's no evidence that it'll help with an injury. I'd just wait and see whether it recovers.

An iodine dip can help with predators. I use SeaChem's coral dip with new arrivals, for example.

Is it getting enough light? Mine survive under regular florescents, but they have a harder time doing things than the ones in the big tank. Careful not to burn it up though.
