Insane coloration

Man, what was mother nature on when she gave this purple firefish the paint job? When that fish flared it's fins it looked pretty. Once I zoomed in on the image I was blown away at the actual detail and seperation that was there. I swear it looks like a paint job from a custom car show back in the day..

That first pic is awesome. Good use of wide aspect ratio. I want to see more of the subject and imagined cropping it differently several ways but decided against it. I like your crop and think it maximizes the visual sizzle.

Second one doesn't do much for me, although I do get a thuggish expression from its face which doesn't jive with my perception of its nature.

I had a trio of those lovely fishes. I loved how they would rise up in the tank and flick / rapidly extend and retract their dorsal fins doing some sort of communication / schooling behavior.

Yeah, what the heck is a wreath? What was I on...(lol). I thought I edited that last night when I read it but I guess I never saved it. Anyway, the tank is running 2 VHO actinics and 2 B+ T-5's. The colors are probably a little saturated since my camera was set to "landscape".

The frist one is cropped that way because with this viewing size iff you keep the whole fish you just cannot see the details that exist. It still amazes me when I look at it. Love the little yellow tips on the individual spikes.

Reef Central is being funny for April Fools and replaced the words R eef and f ish with the word wreath...

TD - pretty amazing, isn't it? Almost unreal.

BD - dude this guy was a total punk/thug. Beatin' on everyone (lol). Nah, typical scared little Firefish. I always thought they just looked real sad with their downturned lip.

Sadly this guy died. He must have gotten sick or something. For like 9 months he had his spot midwater column and no-one bothered him at all. I didn't add any fish or anything for that matter but strangely shortly after my Wrasse went carpet surfing and dried out behind the tank this guy went missing. I though he was just dead and consumed them my g/f saw his head sticking out of a hole in the rock. He was in there for literally like 2+ months. Made a rare appearance and the gone. One day a patient noticed him out cruising the tank. She was all happy but I wasn't so sure. I was watching him and though he looked fat and healthy with no visible external issues, I could tell by the way he was swimming something was amiss. Sure enough the next day he was dead. Bummer, he was awesome looking.
