Inside Stand Detail

I am getting ready to finish the inside of my stand and would like to see/hear about some interesting ideas. One idea I just read about is mentioned here: foam core plastic I have never heard about this being done before. So if you have some interesting ideas, please post them here.

If I could find parkland plastic sheeting somewhere, I would line the entire inside of my stand with it, and silicone all joints. Water would never touch any wood.

Foam core is a plastic used mostly in sign making. It is like a very thin plastic laminated over a dense foam center. The material I used was cyntex (might be syntex).
I used 1/8" but would go with a thicker material if I had it to do over again. It would have been much nicer with the outlets mounted to it. It is very easy to fabricate. I used rivets to attach it to the frame and then went around all of the seams with white silicone.

Here it is pre outlets

The only thing about that is it traps heat inside. Sound is a battle, but if your tank overheats, you lost the war.

Thanks Geo! Did you find the stuff locally or order it?

Qwiv, heat is an easy this to vent, sound is a bigger problem as my wife hates any noise from the tank.

Home Depot sells a really cheap shower wall liner that works well for this application. It's a very thin (less than 1/8") plastic that can be easily cut with a heavy duty pair of scissors and comes in several colors and textures. Just glue it on and seal the seams with some silicone.

I thought about that stuff too, cut it and glue it in and it would be sweet! I think I'm still going to live with the paint it's already paid for...:D

I paint the inside of all my stands with Acrylic Latex based paint.. Then I build a pan out of plastic sheeting in the bottem.. Pretty much like what BigJPDC said.. I've done it this way for a couple of years seems to work great.. Here is a couple pics of a few different stands.

That's a good idea 8ball.
Ken, I picked the sheet up from a local plastic supplier, and it was cheap, thinking 20ish for a four by eight.

I did add a white vent in the back to allow a little more air movement. The shower board would work, this stuff is so easy to work with though. I would use the same material again for sure.

8Ball - I got the idea from you! I've been to HD and Lowes and can't seem to find it, although I wasn't looking in the shower section.

My stand has an open back, so not worried about over heating the sump.

I like posting pictures :)

I hard wired these outlets into a 15 amp gfci breaker. The switch shuts off the two pumps, all the others are hot all the time. I do not like the power strips and feel better about plugging into an actual outlet. The light balast is in the basement on its own breaker.

Look in the back of the store where they have paneling (at Lowes anyway)

8Ball, I went to Lowes today and don't think I found exactly what you used, but did find a 4 x 8 sheet of textured plastic that is used in showers that will work fine. I'll take some pictures when I'm finished. It was in an area where they have different types of panels. Some of them said they could be used for showers, but was a fiber board backing. If that stuff gets wet, it turns to mush!
