Inside Sun MH bulb for $ 30.00 ???

The $80.00 setup is a refubished unit Their regular units are still a good price. The company is setup for Hydroponics that is why the prices are little lower. The 10 k by itself has some yellow to it but with my atinics on at the same time I have no problem with the color

Well, the bulbs came in Friday. No problems there with the ordering and delivery.

I screwed them in and they fired right up without problems (I have a pulse start ballast).

But boy....are they yellow.....I wonder if they will stay like that?
Right now I only have two 40W NO Actinics as supplements and they don't help a bit.

But I was planning to add some VHO's anyways, I am just waiting for my LFS to get the ballast in on Monday. (LFS is matching the Lowest price I found on the net, complete set up with ballast, endcaps, stand offs and bulbs for under $ 200.00 !)

I am getting the ARO ballast and I am going to add three 60" Actinics, that should take care of the yellow......

My 250's @10k were yellow for the first day or so that they fired, then they changed. I ran only one for the first few days, and when I added the second there was a very pronounced difference in coloration for the first day.

I've had them for a week and they are a piercing white with a tint of blue.

HTH!

i have them they are yellow, i tryed them one day and took them out, well im going to try them again and see if they stay yellow..

just make sure this is what you want this place has a no returen policy... they person i talked to about a return was vary rude. the price is good but not worth the yellow and the way they treat you

Eric, the ones you got where in white plain sleeves without writing? If so, then I got hope they will adjust.

Regardless, price can't be beat and for the price AND free shipping I wouldn't even dream of them having a return policy.....

AND ....my corals seemed to like the new bulbs, not sure if it was wishfull thinking or if they where open just a tad more than usual after the new bulbs came on. AND ....isn't that the most important thing and then looks????

My old bulbs where 2 x Hamilton 175 W 10k and 1 x bubble shaped bulb with no writing and I have no clue how old they where when I got the tank 7 month ago...and there is a visible difference, the new ones are way more yellow.

OK so for $80 I get a ballast, socket, and reflector, and a yellow light. Thats still cheaper than I can do at Hellolights building it myself. Still sounds like a great deal.

Does anyone have one of the "econo" ballasts running with a known brand bulb-again like xm, or sun, or ushio? If so, how is the color, is it purely quality of bulb, or is the ballast contributing to the yellow by not driving it properly?

I have one sitting in the box .It was yellow also and when I was determined to try it again it failed to fire .I am using an electronic ballast . It was a learning lesson for me .A cri of 65 is not too great but if you all are happy more power to you . I couldn't resist the price either .. It's kinda huge for a 250 watt bulb way bigger than my radium ..or coralvue ..wonder if i got the sent the wrong bulb .

Hmm.

The person that I dealt with was Mike.

Struck a deal through e-mail, the kits were there within days (UPS tracking number generated immediately).

Upon firing, the bulb cracked (I overtightened, heard a "crack" while inserting).

E-mailed Mike with my concern, immediate reply was that a new bulb was on the way with another tracking number.

No questions asked. Didn't even expect me to pay shipping.

From my experiences, that is great customer service!

Everything in the tank is responding quite well the the MH's. Might be the most important thing I've done so far.

Mine came in today and yes it is very yellow. I hope it changes but if it doesn't then I will try something else. My devils hand went from like pink/blue to completly green. My clam is hiding and my ricordia love it so far. Only had it burning for about 2 hours now. Anybody else's turn white/blue yet?

Mine came in yesterday, the 400W for $80.00 after all said and done it was $128.00, still not bad.

However, this is the bulb they sent me, and he is trying to tell me it is a MH. The box plainly states High Pressure Sodium.

Here is his reply when I told him he sent the wrong bulb:

"The bulb is not an hps bulb. The outer glass is the same shape as an hps bulb but it is a metal halide 10k .

thanx

mike"

I have sent him pictures of the MH in the previous post and the bulb he sent me. I am awaiting his reply

I called Sylvania just to be sure I had my facts, that bulb is without a doubt a High PS, and upon further investigation,
this jerk*** sent me a S51 ballast, which is a High Pressure sodium ballast. Have sent 3 email so far this morning, he has yet to respond.

Why did it cost $128? I thought the $80 included S&H?

Not sure if I missed the free shipping line, but no, the shipping is not free. It cost $28. Plus another $20 to upgrade to a 10K light.

I called this place and got the owner, which is Mike's dad, then I talked direclty to Mike. After I got this guy on the phone, and finally convinced him that he sent me a complete HPS set-up(which wasnt easy) he has agreed to send me out another complete set-up. He said he will send it out Monday....
Thats fine, Ill be on vacation until Thursday...

he kinda acted like I was silly for not just using the High Pressure Sodium

Anyway, we'll see when it gets here, and then we'll see about the return shipping costs
