really surprised to see how many still use this salt and have not switched to other brands. I guess at the end of the day one gets what they pay for.
I bought because I saw Tri buying haha he has nice sps colors so I was like "œwhy not"... i ended up not using

What salt do you use?
did Tri offer you any of his secret sauce. its all in the sauce.
I haven't noticed a difference in the cheap salts. Then again, this is probably as high end as I have gone. I usually just use IO or Coralife.
I ok with the results though.
Woah! Are you sure you're not using nuoc mam? (fish sauce)
Hey..,.... Non Asians here ... Don't give away the Viet secrets man..... Not cool.

:lolspin:
My personal favorite is the 3 crabs brand because of all the MSG. Not the boogie hipster red boat brand my wife likes. Much cheaper than acropower or other amino. Instant acro colors.

Hey, do you supplement soy? I like Maggie for my sps... None of that Lee Kum kee stuff people use now a days..
It doesn't increase salinity or have any affect on nutrients?
This is baller salt for Jamie and I. Us noobs run Morton or IO.
Well, actually, we only started doing IO last year b/c DFS got bought out by Petco and no longer stocked Coral Life salt. THAT was our go-to fav for 10 years! Plus, free T shirts in the 150 gallon mix--you couldn't go wrong!!

Mike,
I did not try to say that this is a bad salt. I just always looked at it as a beginner gate way product. Then just assumed people move on to higher end products as they learn more in the hobby.
Years ago when I ran my service business I looked at NSW and many brands of salt. Then I looked at cost to buff things to where I want. At that time I was using NSW and went to D and D salt. Tropic marin was not bad but low alk if I recall but I do seeing it more popular now then ever. I did try the Aquavitro salt and like it but it was hard to find. Went to Red Sea for a while and It was the dirtiest salt I have ever used. I felt I was shocking my corals with water changes instead of helping the. For the last year or so I have been using the Aquaforest Reef Salt. I bought into it as it was batch tested with ICP results this made me feel safer so I can check my water batches. Switching my salt I also moved to running the tank at 1DKH lower and I have been really happy with the results. I will say the salt mixes really well and fast. Not to much clouding. We should do a thread/poll on what type of salt all uses and even 2 or 3 part. I would love to hear what others are using and their results.
I've always use IO regular and have always wanted to try something else but never had the cajones to. Red Sea is one of them I was really thinking about but after seeing your post, probably not go that route. thanks for the info on RS salt.
One day I might change. lol.
Mike I so understand this. lots of people think changing salt may crash ones tank. most of the times people have salt problems is mixing it wrong. If you ever want to try AF and you are in the Riverside area. let me know as I get pallets delivered to my home and stock it like toilet paper.
