I have a pair of vortechs pointing to each other on the side of a 120 tank. I also have 2 Tunze 6100s. I have the vortechs on reef crest (they aren't synced or anything, just each on reef crest). I have the dial on each Vortech turned all the way up. The 6100s seem to move A LOT more water than the Vortechs, is this due to the wider flow pattern of the Vortechs?

Partially, and most of the time on reefcrest the pump will not be operating at max speed.

Are you sure of this? I thought I saw a graph posted by ecoTech that should that it was for a fair amount of time. I thought that the lagoon had the most variability....

I think you have that reversed. I am pretty sure reef crest is the one that has the most variability.

What is the recommended setting for sps?

Reef crest is a better random mode for SPS. You could also use pulse mode.
