Interceptor... Not getting the love from Vets :(

I went to 5 veterinarian offices and all declined giving me interceptor even with my 3 print outs of red bugs and the treatments for the reef aquarium.

One vet actually questioned if I was planning on poisoning someone with it? She was half joking half serious.

So mission failed. I am still looking for interceptor and want it for dipping new additions to my reef tank.

Please if anyone has a connection for intereceptor or can sell some please let me know.

Thanks

-Matthew

I hope you pointed out that there are things in your aquarium that are far more lethal.

You can order from canadia :)

I've seen people order the funniest of hallucinogenic drugs from canada, so you shouldn't have to worry much about ordering a relatively legit substance.

In the meantime I'm seeing if my mom can talk the local vet into giving me them as well, as they wouldn't give them to me this weekend.

I am not really surprised that a vet would not give someone a Rx without having an established relationship first. Also, there maybe a little (Reverse)age discrimination going on as well.

I agree with Husky, both age and the lack of a relationship are likely issues.

Christy and I have used the same vet for 7 or 8 years. He has no problem selling us interceptor for corals, but would not do it for someone who wasn't an existing customer.

Yea I kinda knew that before going in. All the vets asked if I was a pre-existing patient and I replied "you treat people here to?" lol :D

Needless to say I left empty handed.

If you get any Manny I would be interested in some, not free but I will buy it. Same goes for you Jeff.

Thanks

Hey Matt,
Let me know if you have any luck. I will be taking a cat to my vet next week to get her fixed:rolleye1: I have been going there for several years. Maybe I can buy some from him. How much would a person need/want? I might want some myself.

It depends on how you plan to treat. In-tank treatments require large quantities, depending on the size of the tank. For that, larger pills might make sense (each pill treats 380 gallons). Personally, I treat all new corals before they go in the tank. Since I'm only dealing with ~2g of water in a bucket, I prefer to buy the small dog pills (each treats 38 gallons), and I use 1/2 a pill for a strong treatment.

Here's d deal.
12 pack of large dog pills $85- $100
Its pretty much $7-10 a pill.

I will only take frags no $$$$.

Remind the vet of their "mantra" if that's the correct word... a veterinarian may prescribe medication for OTHER than it's intended use if, in the vet's personal judgement, the medication will not be used to do harm to a living animal. I guess that doesn't include parasites, as interceptor is made to take care of in dogs.
