international marine fish??????????

When i got mine from them it smelt like mildew a little bit. had a few sponges/coral still alive. only took two weeks to fully cure in a tub. They ship it bone dry in a black bag inside a cardboard box. No styrofoam. It wasn't to bad though for the price, but i will only buy TBS from here on out. There reef cleaner package is a good deal though. I talked him down to $30 for the 10 Emerald Crabs and 50 Blue Legged Hermit Crabs package.. I ended up with about 14 emeralds, and 60 hermits.. Took all of the extra to LFS. Hermit he used are from Big Al's, and all live stock was in great condition. Not a single dead one.

All in all, if I was doing another brand new tank, and wanted some cool looking rock, and didn't mind doing a cure.. I would split it between IMF and TBS.

P.S. There rock is very porous, and interesting looking. TBS you need at least 2# per gallon. IMF maybe 1#-1.5# per gallon. Make sure you scrape off alll dead stuff on the rock when you get it, and like I said... It might smell like mildew a little.. But then again it was going from Flordia to Alaska and took 2 days.

cool! finally someone who has something to say about them. i get nervous ordering from places without researching them.

i just set up my tank and was thinking of ordering there 90 pounds of caribean rock. he claims overnight shipping and im only in virginia so it shouldnt be too dead when it gets to me.

thanks for the feedback!

I got my LR from jbjlighting.com and I love it. It was full of growth of all sorts of things....It came to be less than 4 bucks a pound with everything included. I live in WI so I thought it might be a little dead, but it wasn't at all. It was awesome.
:)

Just keep in mid that it will be bone dry when you get it. They store is dry (with damp newspaper) at thier facility. I'm not trying to discourage you, just want to make sure you know what you are getting into.

With mine I ordered about 40# and recieved about 55# of rock. =) The one confusing thing is when you call there is Gary Sr., and Gary Jr. Make sure you know which one you are talking to. Nice people though.

It will come back to life, and makes very good "base" rock. I has a a couple of small sponges (maybe 1/2" big) survive. A couple of corals (don't know what type) but one looks like a mat, and is about 3"x 5". And two small Halimeda Plants (not sure if they are really still alive though).

The overall color of the rock in tan and greenish color. A lot of it comes from dead cabbage corals to give you an idea of the look. I will try to take some pics of mine tonight and post them for you. I will also post some pics of my TBS when I first got it as well. Just for a comparison.

What size is your tank?

Here are a few of the neet looking pieces..

i just received my order of liverock from gulfview today
really nice peices, and alot of life, you cant go wrong

I see you're in VA - I got my rock from Pacific East Aquaculture, located in Maryland. The Tonga is about $6/lb, and the Fiji runs about $4.50/lb. I went in person because I wanted to see what I was getting, but they do ship. From what I saw the rock went into holding tanks upon arrival, so it's not sitting in a box somewhere getting stinky.

Good luck!
