Intersted in joining your club

Long time reader first time poster!

I was looking over your website and reading all the great advice and knowledge in this section of reefcentral and thought i should introduce myself and maybe join in your club if you still accepting people.

I currently have a 30g long, 2 clowns, leopard puffer, plate coral, kenya trees and some zoo frags that are just styaing as frags and a 100g waiting for me to build a stand and get up and running. Had freshwater tanks thru the years and got this marine setup going about 8 months ago.

I am realizing that you can learn alot from reading forums and articles online and looking at pics but i am realizing quickly and very brown algae covered taht i need to join a group of people make some friends and gain alot more knowledge in the process.

I live in the cranberry area. i notice you guys meet up at elmers in monroeville. Anyone live north of the city? I dont want to be a lonely member way out in the middle of nowhere!! haha

Awesome, I am going to try and make it to elmers tonight and join in the meeting and meet you all. Not sure if i can yet but def going to try.

Any tips or pointers for a first time meeting participant, should i bring pen and paper? maybe one of my 2 little frags to look like i know what i am doing? haha

Oh and quick question, i usually go to seahorse cause i work in allison park, dont buy much cept for filter stuff and dream of getting my bigger tank going, but i do have a few aiptasia(sp) i thought they were free coral on rock but alas i learned they are bad, guy told me theres a an actual bottle of stuff that is perfect to shoot them with but can't remember what it was called. does elmers carry it? or should i just super kalk them?

I live 5 minutes up route 8 from Ted. That is changing (tentatively) in November, when I'll be moving to Indianola. My mom is the maintanence technician for the Seahorse, and used to work in the store before that.

As for what to bring, bring stuff to scribble on if you want, if not, just bring yourself.

Aiptasia-X is the product you were looking for. That, lemon juice (so I've heard), super kalk, boiling water, will all kinda work out. Honestly, a predator like a peppermint shrimp or Copper Band Butterfly might be your best shot at long term control, but even they are hit or miss. I have some in my tank, and for the moment I've just made peace with it. I use epoxy and just epoxy over them when I see them in places I can do that easily, but they still pop up all over the place. They're a real pain, and nothing is fullproof because they're 900 times harder to kill than my coral...but you can give it a try. Good luck, and welcome to the boards.

I agree with cloak.

I live with them, but my pepperment seem to keep them at bay. After they were added i saw my population cut down to almost nothing
