Iodine?

yes it is ,,, helps molting with shrimp , zoas love it. its a important trace element for your tank, Lugol's plus iodine is what i use from Salty. A big & good skimmer will strip alot of your trace elements away from the water.

i dont think so bro ... there are several all in one trace element additives out there ,,i use Kent "Essential Elements". along with LUGOL'S iodine . there are a lot of different all in one add ins , but i have always used Kent Brand for some reason , and it seems to do a great job in my tank .

Hey Stew .. did you get that 200 tank set up yet ?? I helped Jet get that all drained down for you , nice tank !!!!

Not yet Murph. Lighting is my 1st priority. I also got the 100 gal. rubbermaid sump. Got it all in one trip - looked like Sanford & Son going down the road.

were you calling your help a "Big Dummy " the whole time loading it ?
little champiple on the way back home ? . That's a great classic show for sure. you can still catch it on TV land channel. and several other old time shows.

Iodine is indeed needed for shrimp, and many softies. However, like many of the "additives" it can be purchased a hell of a lot cheaper if you do a bit of background research. I bought some Potassium Iodine many years ago from a research chemical supplier and have been mixing out of the same jar for about 8 years now. Let me know if you are interested and I will see if I can mix up a bit extra.

i have been adding iodine for the last 8mo. just stopped using it. did not notice any difference whatsoever in the color/growth of my corals. for me i can say i cannot justify the expense

I would give it a try. I don't use any right now, maybe it could make an inprovement

i never used it. all my shrimp and crabs would die when they molted. asked Greg at AT about it and he said i needed iodine.because my skimmer was removing it. i bought some and started dosing per instructions on the bottle. bought that bottle like 8 years ago and still have it. havent lost a shrimp or crab since then.
