IP cams, and the Iphone

I know the unofficial user guide has info about the Linksys ip camera, for use with the blackberry phones, but is anyone using this particular linksys camera with the iphone for streaming live video?

Or, is there another IP camera that apex users would use with the Iphone, and what Iphone App would you choose?

I have the trendnet tv-ip110w to use with my droid and like it. youll just need an application where you can add the IP addresses of the cameras. I also have the Linksys WVC54GCA and just don't like it.. I purchased it used but the colors are just weird and have been having problems with it staying connected to my network.

For the trendnet i like that it's wireless so the only cable is the power cord and the picture quality. It's not bad for a ~70 dollar camera. Wasd also a breeze to setup to my network wirelessly. I just purchased the Foscam FI8918W because I couldnt decide between the trendnet tv-ip422w or the foscam. I just ended up going on the reviews and then the prices. I'm waiting for it to arrive in a week

I have a WVC54GCA I can access the webpage and view on my iPOD, I think you need software for the RTSP on an iPhone/pod/pad though.

RTSP work on the Windows Mobile Phones (WM6.5) using Media player :thumbdown

I also have an IQEye 753 which is a 2MP camera with built in server capable of 2500x2500 resolution (or something like that) and I view the IQEye and the Linksys using IPViewer on my Droid X and the Linksys is a better picture! (I never really messed with it settings wise so far)

No issues with the Linksys on my wireless connection that I have noted.

just setup the foscam FI8918W and am pretty happy with the choice. right now it's setup wirelessly to my network and after configuring some stuff in the camera and my router I'm able to access the camera remotely just like the Apex.

i think you can buy it on amazon right now cheaper than what i bought it for earlier in the week.. its like 5 bucks less now.

I just got this camera and it is really cool. It was beyond easy to get it set up on my local network.

I've been trying to get it set up on the DynDNS account just like I did my Apex and it always locks up my router and/or modem. My Apex worked flawlessly once i got it hooked up properly with DynDNS, but a week or so later cause issues with the router.

do you guys think this is a router issue? I have a Belkin Wireless-N router that is pretty nice and has been really great for the year or so that I've owned it. this is the first time I've tried anything like this with it though.

I would check to make sure you don't have an IP address conflicts (or ports) in your network. I have my APEX, a home security system, a NAS and two cameras on my tank and don't have any issue. All DYN is going to do is point you towards your routers IP. If you get the issue by using the IP address (whatmyIP.com) then it's something on your network (least a place to start anyway).

The key to running the Linksys on an iPhone is to access it via the HTML web page just as if you were running it from a remote PC. You don't use the RTSP like you would on a Blackberry.

I finally got all of my network issues resolved somehow. I just reset everything and started from scratch. Did everything the same way (I think!) and now it's working great. I got the Surveillance Pro app for the iPhone for the Foscam 8918 and it works really well. Such a cool thing, this technology, when it works! I would love it if Aquanotes would control the camera too, but that's asking a lot I know.

I use Total Control Multicam 4 on my iphone which is in the itunes store. It supports most of the popular ip cams on the market. The multicam 4 version supports up to 4 cams. They have a version that supports only one cam as well. In my case, I am using a Cisco WVC210 IP cam. Since my camera has a built in webserver, I can also access it through the iphone web browser but the multicam software works well so I dont bother with the browser.

I like that camera. I have been looking for a while for a good one. Would you mind if I took a look at it in-action? Please send me details via PM if so. I can't wait to get one setup for my tank... added my first fish this week!

By 'built in webserver', does that mean that you dont have to have your computer running with it? That is my mine issue with my current one.

The built in webserver allows the IP cam to function as its own device on the network without the need for a computer to provide WAN access. You setup your router so that it allows outside access to the IP cams IP address and port number just like you do with your Apex. I use an alternate DYNDNS address for my ipcam or I can use my Apex DynDns address followed by the port number of my ip cam.

I have the following items on my system
apple express base-station
2-foscam cameras sending to dyndns
1-slingbox
1-Apex

They all play nice. I use Live Cams on the iphone. Works great.
