iPhone App

Zig's thanks. I posted it as an FYI for others.

I noticed that you had mentioned this would be the case in the initial release.

I think it's great that you are offering it for free but I'm willing to bet 95% of reefers out there would pay a buck or two for you efforts!

Works just great!!
Thanks so much for this.
And yes !!!! I am sure we all wouldn't mind paying a couple bucks to reward you for your hard work.

hmm i am searching the app store for "reef" or "aquanotes" or even "neptune" but I Am not getting any results.. Did Apple take it down??????

not sure how it works, guessing the iphone app store lags a bit behind the real store. I didnt locate it there either. but it certainly is available.

Search does not find the app in the appstore YET. If you use the appstore link located in an earlier post by zigzag you will find the app.

Works great for me. Appreciate the effort that you put into developing this. You should charge for this!!! Thanks again

This app is outstanding! Thank you for the effort! You should make this version the free version and any further enhancements, e.g., ability to display other status....TempA, PHA1, ORPA and Program Editor, the pay version. I think $2.99 would be a good price.

Thanks again!

tinnghe: Port 80 is the general port used by HTML browsers, i.e., Internet Explorer, Firefox and Safari. Port 23 is the default port for Telnet, which is the interface that the author of the program used to communicate to the ACIII. If you are on the local network with the iPhone (via WiFi) you should have no problem and you do not need to open up a port on your router. If you outside of your network it gets a little more complicated. If you need further help. Let us know.

I am running on edge right now away from my network. All I have to do is open up port 23 and will it work? So pretty much this app is for a closed network?

tinnghe:

If you are outside of your local home network you will need to forward port 23 on your router to the IP address of your ACIII. You should have assigned a static IP address to your ACIII on your home's local network. If you have a static IP address from your Internet Service Provider (ISP) you would simply setup the iPhone app to point to your home's static IP address and port 23. If you have a dynamic IP address assigned from your ISP, you will need to signup for a service such as DynDNS so that you can access your home network remotely.

Bottom line is that the app that was developed will work inside a local area network and across a wide area network (such as the internet).

zigzag - you 'da man!

zigzag - you 'da man!

This is EXACTLY what I was hoping for! Thanks zigazg. I'd happily pay for V2, and submitted a review to iTunes for you. Great stuff! Thanks. :)

Now if you can toss a program editor function into a future version, I'll never need my PC again to manage my tank. Cool!

I already setup my DNS with port 80 that is what my problem is since I have 80 forward now I have to forward 23 would it cause a conflict?

Nope, you should be able to forward both in your router.

BTW can someone provide the link for the LATEST AQUANOTES WIDGET?? The "official" site just talks. never provides the file and the yahoo site has one that is way outdated.

EBacon, The Yahoo Aquastatus Widget is available. You have to register to see the download though.

This is great. Wish I had more time to work on one for Google apps. Will try to load it to my Touch.

Maybe during the next break.

OK...I can connect just fine on my internal network, however cannot connect running on 3G back into my network? I have port 23 forwarded within my router.

Love the app BTW...
