iPhone App

morpheus1969:

In order to access the ACIII from the internet, you must either have a static IP or dynamic IP with Dyndns to access the controller. With a static IP, you just need to connect to that static IP that is provided to you by your ISP. This would then be entered into the iPhone application as the host, with the appropriate port number appended (e.g., 206.184.5.22:23). If you do not have a static IP assigned by your ISP then it is a dynamic, ever changing one. You will need to sign up to a service such as Dyndns.com to get a URL assigned and then configure your router to automatically update your dynamic IP assigned by your ISP to the URL name that you picked with Dyndns.com. If you have the dynamic IP address and the Dyndns URL, you will need to follow the convention identified above except you will use the URL name followed by the colon and port number that you have forwarded to your ACIII (e.g., morpheus1969.homedns.org:23).

Good luck!

I do have a dyndns.org domain...I am having trouble there as well. I cannot seem to get into my network from outside except for my slingbox, and my "Back to My Mac" which both work great???

morpehus, I had a similar problem. What local IP address did you assign your AC3? Are you using Apple's 10.0.1.x or did you change your Airport Extreme/Time Capsule's default DNS IPs to 192.168.0.x?

If you are using 10.0.1.x, make sure you don't forget to change the AC3's Gateway setting to point to 10.0.1.1 (IP of your router). Make sure you restart the AC3 after changing the settings.

After the restart, check with http://www.canyouseeme.org/ and see if it can see your forwarding port. Once this works, you should not have any problems with the iPhone app.

Let me know how it goes.

wwanthony, I have reconfig'd the router and set up port forwarding to :80 and :23. Still nothing outside my network???

rsuplido, I ran the canyouseeme.org, and :23 can be seen, however :80 cannot? FYI, all the other recommendations had been done to include restart...

I think you are mapping port 80 which is usually blocked by most ISPs. Here's what you need to do:

Run AirPort Utility, click on Advanced -> Port Mapping. You need to create two mapped ports, one for accessing your AC3 via a browser, and one for the iPhone app:

For accessing via a browser, set the port mapping like the following:

Note that I am mapping port 80 (orange arrow) of the AC3 whose IP I have assigned as 10.0.1.80, to port 10080 (green arrow). This means, I will be able to access my AC3 from any browser like http://myname.dyndns.org:10080

For the iPhone app, you need to map another port like the following:
20090104-bs3ner5n2q5s15m2rwyjr63uks.jpg

Again, I'm mapping port 23 (orange arrow) of the AC3 to port 10023 (green arrow). On the iPhone app, configure with:

Host: myname.dyndns.org
Port: 10023

Note that myname.dyndns.org is whatever you used when you signed up at dyndns.com.

1. The name may not be the best to use ... Did you check with Curt from Neptune to see if he minded. After-all, their program is called AquaNotes. Maybe rename it to AquaNotes Mobile ? or get away from the AquaNotes name.
You're kind of close to a copyright infringement claim there ... little too close for my personal liking.

2. On the apple store in iTunes, the support URL's are mixed up.
Nullriver, Inc. Website points to http://www.neptunesys.com/
AquaNotes Support points to http://www.nullriver.com/support

Keep up the good work - while I don't have an iPhone, the app looks great so far! Keep it up!

Interesting anomoly, when i click the above link on my laptop it takes me right to the itunes store. When I do it on my desktop it tries to save an unkown file called browser redirect.... At first I thought it was the security settings on windows xp install but now I am thinking maybe it is a config in itunes.. At any rate I was wondering if any one else has seen this behavior and could get me started in the right direction.

this one

When you are prompted to open, just select other program and then browse to itunes. Then you are telling the browser to open that particular file with iTunes, which is what you need. If that does not work, you can always reinstall iTunes to fix any file-association problems you may have.

For some reason, the delete logs option at the upper right is not working. It seems like it is deleting showing the "wait" animated icon, but then the logs are still there.

Any chance you can add the Feed menu to activate feed cycles?
