iPhone Pic

Thanks for sharing, Jim. The pics look great! I am also interested in the link, please pm when you have a chance. Thanks

So, the issue when taking pictures is that under the amount of blue light we all run it falls outside of the "normal" expectations for a camera to display the color white and make adjustments. This is why everything is blue when you take a picture, if you can find a camera that has a settable white balance you can teach your camera what "white" is, you do this by placing something pure white in the tank up against the glass, then you tell your camera "this is white" then the camera can figure out all the colors accurately. What Jim did was place a yellow filter in front of the lens, look at any color wheel, the opposite of blue is yellow, so essentially your shifting your white balance with the filter. now placing any random yellow tinted lens will get you close, a pair of yellow tinted sun glass's will get you a better picture.
BTW Jim, extremely impressive pictures, those are beautiful corals.

Cameras on the new phones are pretty impressive. I think the point and shoot digital camera market is officially dead. I don't use any filters and can control white balance on the phone. The colors are nearly exact to real life, these are during dusk (a360we about 30% color, 50% intensity, T5s off).

What size tank is that ...Awesome aquascape

250DD, and thanks. The rock is all drilled with fiberglass rods through the rock attached to a pvc base. I other words, no rock slides.

First iPhone pic. I'm thinking I may need a lighter orange filter? Few new frags from Emmett today.

Snapped a couple of quick crappy pics with a few of the new photo gels I got. Still haven't taken the time to experiment with them and adjust the white balance I hoping to do that tomorrow.

FYI.....I found an app today for iPhone called VSCOcam (it's free) where you can adjust the white balance while taking pics with the iphone. This app along with the filters is pretty sick! I'll post some pics tomorrow.
