I've got a Perfecto 150g 48Lx24Wx30H tank on order and found out that the glass is 12mm ( 1/2 inch) for the sides and 10 mm (3/8th) for the bottom. Should i be worried and switch the tank to a 120g which has 10mm all around ? The bottom is also not tempered.
If you are worried that 10mm isn't thick enough then you would have the same worry with the 120.
Without verifying if these thicknesses are accurate, I can say that I have a stock Perfecto 150 High - same dimensions as yours. It's up and running and I'm not worrying about the bottom of it.
What do you mean - not tempered. Mine came with a sticker on it (I think).
You're tanks says custom , what was custom about it ? When i called Perfecto's Cust Service #, the lady told me the sides were 12mm and the bottom was non tempered as well as 10mm.
Mine is custom. I took the stock Perfecto 150 high. Cut the top frame completely off it. Drilled holes in the back for a closed loop system. Actually cut two weirs in the back of the top of the tank for an external overflow box that I added to the back of the tank. Along with adding a one piece custom eurobrace back on top of the tank. I think I can safely say that it is now a custom job.
They may be correct but I could have sworn I saw a sticker on the bottom of mine. I'll look through my pictures tonight and see if I happen to have one that might show the bottom. I took lots of pictures of the whole process.
Looks like I was wrong again. This is the best photo I found that shows the bottom of the tank and I don't see a sticker.
This was after I was done drilling for the closed loop and cutting the weirs but before the eurobrace went on.
I'll try to add some photos into my gallery that will show the general progression of the process but it probably won't be tonight. My wife just reminded me that today is our anniversary. Oops - I think I'm in the doghouse again.
