Is 82 degrees too high for a peacock?

Hello:

My temp fluctuates between 80.3-81.9 in my peacock tank, is this too high? should I start thinking about a chiller for this tank?

I know that this peacock is recommended to be kept between 72 to 78 degrees however is 82 degrees critical?

Dr. Roy could you shed some light on this subject?

Nevermind... I just checked the list again and peacocks are 22-28c animals, so they could go upto 82.4 degrees farenheit and be fine.

82 should be fine as long as you recognize that at higher temperatures decomposition happens faster, so there is less tolerance should food go uneaten or a molt skin be buried.

you still need to look into some type of cooling, even if it's only a fan on a timer.

Not knowing where you're located, if it's 82 now, think about this summer when it comes. You're likely to go up a few degrees.

tkx for the feedback

Thank you for the feedback Dr. Roy; I feel good with this tank the way its running (big skimmer and UV steralizer) even though its only a Nanocube24 gal.

I spoke to the guys from nano tuners and they told me they would have a small in-hood chiller available soon, ill wait for them to come out with it and install it. I am in Fl and we run AC 24/7 in my office so I am not too worried about abient temp unless the AC breaks.

I will have to keep my eyes open for when it molts and I typically try to feed only once per week.
