Take it out and it wouldn't hurt doing a small water change as well.

Well I took him out and wow he was ripe!!!! Thanks guys for your help, it is going to be awhile probably not until I am older and more expereinced that i will get another clam. I also did the water change I did a 15% change. thanks

Sorry about your loss! It could have been diseased.

If youask me, your ability to keep animals has nothing to do with your age, really just if you are responsible enough to research and provide a quality home for an animal.
