Is it a pyramid snail?

I was looking at a crocea in a SPS and clam tank at the LFS, the glass and LR had quite a few of these snails. They are very small, they have the same long thin shape of a pyramid snail, only they are not white or beige, they are black (shell). I did'nt see any on or near the clams, but I wanted to find out more, before buying.

I don't think pyramidellid snails come in black. I would closely inspect the clam, check out for any snail marks in the lip of the clam. The problem is that these snails typically attack the clam at night.. but during the day they will hide either under the clam, by the byssal opening or in it, or in the rock and then come back later.

If the clam seems untouched and you don't see anything in the byssal opening I think you should be clear. But then again if you feel the slightest doubt then wait for another clam to come by ;)
