Is it just me ?

once there is an established market for premium-prices zoas, the supply increases little by little until growers are selling for more-reasonable prices.

$RPE's for sale $5 each now
$RDE's for sale $1 each now

It's polyp economics, or "polypeconomics", as i have now invented this word.

]Mucho, I have stuck by your side on many topics in the past, but this crusade is probably your boldest.

Really? I don't think it's boldness at all. These prices have simply gotten out of hand and people are dreaming up every excuse in the book to justify keeping these price sky high for single polyps. I'm simply tired of seeing all of the mature, experienced and long time pros here and those highly educated as it relates to zoas and palys who are leaving this forum and zoa keeping one by one.

So it's not a crusade as all, the people have spoken in this thread and many others. Usually, I said usually, the defenders of selling at these prices are also the sellers at these high prices.

I have a mail box full of people who are behind this thread and the direction it and others have taken. I was in a LFS a few years ago and meet a young guy who must have been all of 18 years old. He had been in reefing for all of 4 months. All he did was go down the line on and on about how rare each of the frags were in the LFS. I stopped him abruptly and ask him who told him they were rare. His reply, the guy who had been selling him sky high priced polyps. I then ask him to show me some of the polyps he purchased that were in the store and later on line. I wasn't shocked at all, but not one of those polyps were rare and I use to actually give those morphs away they were so common. He refused to tell me just how much he paid as be was instantly embarrassed to find out that he too had been taken. And there are people here who will say, "well he should have done his homework". That's not reefing. This practice of misleading people and telling them something is LE, rare and expensive has to stop. This is a hobby.

This is a great country we live in and even though we have a socialist president, don't be fooled. We run on capitali$m.

Come on, now that's funny. He's not a socialist LOL, but that's another topic

I honestly appreciate that you're spreading consumer awareness, but these are grown adults we're talking about that are either too ignorant or just don't plain care about getting a good price.

Come on bro, you can't call people ignorant. You gotta retract that my friend. Many are students both high school and college. Others are newbies who simply aren't aware of the history on pricing and names. Many have contacted me and said so and they are very shocked to hear, see and now know the truth.

I'm not going to call anyone ignorant. Some may not care and others may be consumed by $$$$$$ signs. I just want people to know the truth and to start saying no to paying these sky high prices for something which might die tomorrow.

Also, how far do you want to take this? Where is the line between acceptable and too much? You realize whole industries are built around this reef hobby.

I and many others will never accept it. That's why so many are trying to stop me. We're going to take it all the way. These threads are now popping up on other sights as well. The lines are truly being clouded. Industries are built around reefing, true, but that is not the subject of this debate/discussion. It's the price gouging greed of some who are purely here for the money.

I for one want these price gougers here. They fuel this hobby and weed out the weak.

That is what many want you to believe. You're saying you prefer to have someone sell you a polyp, not a colony, not a frag, but a polyp for $ 25 to $ 200 which will mostly likely perish when you get it home, instead of selling you a frag of 15 polyps for $ 15 ? For the sole purpose of weeding out the weak? Well, who are the weak? You're saying people who inflate the prices are the strong and the ones who fuel this hobby? Come on, you really don't believe that do you? The true hobbyist and the true reefers are the ones who fuel this hobby.

I seriously hope you only partially succeed with your movement.

In time, and collectively speaking, I hope we're all 100% successful. My focus is on the people who truly fuel this hobby....the reefers. That's why a few here want to silence me. But by virtue of the thread remaining so active, it only helps to get the word out and for that I'm grateful.

I for one am against communism. I don't think garbage men should be paid as much as doctors.;)

I think the hobbyist should at least be aware of the truth, the whole truth...and nothing but the truth

Cheers[/QUOTE]

are you getting out or is this a crusade to the end now lol. Only way to stop it is for you to buy them and grow them with some super "miracle grow" and then sell them for $1 a head. This will never end! No i don't sell nor buy $200 pp zoa's but i'll buy them a year from now once supply catches up.

I think it's more of an issue of common sence than age. how long you have been in the game. or what economic bracket you fall into.. It just boils down to be a "smart shopper" take the names prices and the he said she said stuff and there it is...

Just like the shirt or pants you are wearing right now sitting in front of the computer and reading this thread. (and i pray people are wearing both) but its your house do as you please..

you bought the shirt/pants why?

You like the style
the price/cheap/falls in your budget
made from a great material/company and will last forever so its worth every penny

Flipside:
Cuz it is whats "in"
Might help you with the ladies/men
way over priced but when you lay your head down at night you can say "hey i have one of those"
Bragging rights.. etc
YOU HAVE THE KIND OF MONEY TO BURN ;)

all depends what your cup of tea is......

I think this thread has run it's course. As is obvious by the numerous bumped threads, there are plenty of other threads out there with pricing complaints/discussions. If those originally involved in the thread would like to start a new one with big colony pictures, that is encouraged.

Thanks.
