Hello,

I'm wondering if it is possible to Cross-Breed Clownfish? I currently have a Ocellaris Clownfish and I was wondering if I get a True Percula Clownfish would they breed? Or would i just need to get a somewhat smaller size Ocellaris to breed with the one I have at home?

Thank You

Yes. There are several species that have been cross bred. Ocellaris and percula are probably the easiest to do this with. It seems as though someone forgot to tell the clowns that they are different species. The offspring are even fertile and able to produce healthy offspring of their own.

Oh Thank you, but when i called the aquatic store that i go to, they told me that they wouldn't breed because they would fight against each other and end up killing each other. btw what is the average amount of babies can be produce by a pair of clowns?

There is an excellent book called "clownfishes" by Joyce wilkerson. It explains everything you want to know about these interesting little fish.
Too many LFS workers don't have a clue. :sad2:

i have a question too....has there any reported crossbreeding between maroon clown and tomato clown?
