Is metal halide dead?

'Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Shanghai, Copenhagen and scores of other cities around the world are deploying LEDs in an attempt to solve most, if not all, of the problems created by inefficient traditional lamps.'

What you're saying is true but that is a loaded statement. The problem isn't the bulbs and leds aren't necessarily the solution.

But you're point is well taken. I'm putting leds in my home. I like the white light it puts out, especially over CFL's.

I can't take credit for that point, it came straight from the Forbes website. Someone a lot smarter than me came up with that!!

Gavita has plasma bulbs with 6500 Kelvin... i buy two of this lamps and i want see what happend with this technology on my new tank .... maybe i mixed this lamps with blue T5.
A 300 watt plasma has more power as a 1000 Watt halide lamp. In my old tank i use 4 x 1000 and 4 x 2000 Watt halide lamps + 20 blue T5

best regards .. Klaus

The Gavita is 6500k but looks like it has a yellow/green tint to our eyes. If you are used to 20K, you better start investing a T5 factory to make those Plasma lights look like a 20K.

Metal halide is absolutely dead...dead to hardcore led and t5 users!

I don't see mh going anywhere unless they ban the importation of all sps [emoji12]

I prefer led+T5's myself... [emoji41]

Ive been running LEDs over my tanks for about 2 years and I'm getting ready to get a 3x 150 mh w/ 4 x 54w T5 combo to put over my tank. although my tank parameters have been in the acceptable range I have gotten the growth I think I should with the LEDs. I'll put the mh/t5 combo over the tank for a year and see if my growth increases like I want it to.

I've never heard of Pharos LEDs.....have you tried supplimenting them with T5 before you jump ship completely?
