Is my Derasa sick?

I was just looking at my tank last night and noticed that my snails had what looked like Pyramid snails. They were small and white in color and kinda pointy at one end. I looked at the picture on this web site and I'm 99% sure that they were Pyramids. I cleaned all the snails and check both of the my clams. The clams were completely clean but I used a tooth brush and scrubed them up a little anyway. When I picked up my Derasa this is what I saw:

Sorry about all the pictures, I am trying to hold the clam and take pictures at the same time. Is this the clams byssal and threads? This clam has been nothing but healthy for the last 1 1/2. Any ideas?

Your clam looks fine, yes that is the byssal threads. The snails on your snails are pyramids from the sounds of it. If they are on the other snails and not the clams, chaces are they won't bother the clams. But if they kill off all of your other snails and need more food they will change thier diet to clam. You need to keep removing them from your snails every other day until they are all gone.

Derasa's that big tend to close off thier byssal opening and rely on thier weight to hold them in place. I wouldn't worry about the clam no where near as much as your snails. You have alot of work cut out for you.
