Is my light to bright?

About a month and a half ago I added a BTA and it went through a process of getting used to my tank. It sat in the same spot for probably around 3 weeks than out of nowhere it decided go and anchor itself under a rock so only a little bit of it was showing to the light. It has been there for about 2 weeks

I know they like crevices and holes to wedge their foot in and the rock it was on it was wedged in a hole that went through the whole rock.

I was just wondering if maybe my light was too bright and forced it to go under the light or if it just decided that it wanted to move there for some other reason.

I have a 250 halide and the BTA is about 18 inches below water and the light is 6 inches over the water.

oh and i didn't have that heavy of flow on it either.

It's not to much light. It will move to wherever it is most comfortable. Bta's are notorious for moving around until they find a spot they're content in. I've had them move after being in the same spot for years, with no external changes. I keep my rose under 4 400w halides on my 240 cube. They can handle plenty of light, and will adjust to suit their needs.

Ok. the only reason it bothers me is because it is hiding in a place where it is almost never visible. oh well hopefully it will move again.

I have a RBTA under 250w MH's and it hid out for a couple of weeks (just poking out for a short while day by day). It finally came out full time and 2 months later split in two.

Maybe that is what it is doing because today its whole disk was out in the light when it was just my t5's on but I'm sure when i get home it will only have a tiny bit out. Maybe it is still adjusting.

I think reefers still need to beware. If you've had an anemone for a lengthened period of time under t5's they might not adjust at all to a bright MH. They will still survive and live for weeks, but if they're not able to adjust, they'll bleach, then wither away and die. There is no guarantee that they'll be able to adjust over time.
How many hours are you running you running your MH's? If it's more then 6 hours at a time, I would cut it back to 6 to begin with.
