Is My Maxima Clam Sick?

I noticed this last week and I'm concerned. It has gotten a little worse. I have had this clam since june/july of last year 2011.

I was told that if the clam does not take hold and is unhappy that this could be a sign.

Or is a parasite or disease? I would think if there was a parasite it would have presented itself earlier. Last week the tank did get a little warm 81/82 only for a few hours.

Also seems like his mantle in that area is draw in more
HELP!

I have a 40 gallon breeder-bare bottom with a 250w MH and 2 65watt pc's. The Clam was in the left corner of the tank. Since the above issue I placed him on a rock and located him more in the center of the tank and up higher.

Thoughts

My Maxima sits in the sand under 250W halides and has been doing fine. It sometimes has days that it's mantle isn't as open as others. Keep an eye on it and see if it starts getting worse. I'm assuming it was on the bottom from the beginning or at least for a while.

On the bottom from the beginning. My light cycle is 10hrs Actinic and 6hrs MH. Think I am going to bump the MH up and half hour every week till 7.5hrs.

I would be so mad if I lose this clam!!

Hmm u gotta give her more than 6 hours of light . Have u checked her for damage? Does she have a line of new growth on her shell all around? Feed her and she should perk up
