Is my Peacock nuts or what????

So I have this HUGE peacock mantis...about 6 inches long. I've had him for quite a while and he has had this habit since the day I got him. He is not shy in the least and he has this habit I have to wonder about. I have a cupped piece of live rock in his tank and at least 3 or 4 times a day he will go out to that piece of rock and lay with his back in the depression and all of his flipper out and fanning the water. He looks like he's trying to catch a tan or something...it's weird. First time he did it I thought he was dead and went to pick him up....he smack me well enough to know he wasn't anywhere near close to dead. Had a bruise for days. Now when I watch him he'll come up to the glass, close to me and I swear I can almost hear him say "You lookin at me...YOU looking at ME!" Once he is sure I'm not going to feed him, he goes back to relaxing. When he's had enough he'll do his rounds around the tank until he finds something munchable....I have got to get pictures of this one of these days!! Has anyone ever seen a Mantis do this?

Thanks....

LoL that sounds like it's pretty entertaining.

Isn't it amazing how much personality they have? And their intelligence blows me away!

Our Mantis provides us with hours of entertainment, too.

my peacock does the same thing every once in awhile. i to though she was getting ready to die until i stuck my skewer in the tank. its pretty wierd.....she also likes to perch herself ontop of these 2 rocks that are next to each other like a hawk and stares at me wanting food or waiting for something too move so she can grab a quick bite to eat before the lights go out.

i cant be more happy with my peacock, by far this is the most interesting mantis i have had bar far. i still love my N.wernnea but he isnt very active any more unless it is feeding time. my peacock is just one big mean killing machine that is always hungry!
