So I have this HUGE peacock mantis...about 6 inches long. I've had him for quite a while and he has had this habit since the day I got him. He is not shy in the least and he has this habit I have to wonder about. I have a cupped piece of live rock in his tank and at least 3 or 4 times a day he will go out to that piece of rock and lay with his back in the depression and all of his flipper out and fanning the water. He looks like he's trying to catch a tan or something...it's weird. First time he did it I thought he was dead and went to pick him up....he smack me well enough to know he wasn't anywhere near close to dead. Had a bruise for days. Now when I watch him he'll come up to the glass, close to me and I swear I can almost hear him say "You lookin at me...YOU looking at ME!" Once he is sure I'm not going to feed him, he goes back to relaxing. When he's had enough he'll do his rounds around the tank until he finds something munchable....I have got to get pictures of this one of these days!! Has anyone ever seen a Mantis do this?
Thanks....
