Is the MH "shimmer" missing from your T5 setup? Would this fix it?

for the same price you can get a current powerbrite led strips made for aquarium use wit 4 10k 1 watt lights, 4 actinic, or combo. I got 2 for my 125 vho setup and they give pretty good shimmer especially when just the vho actinics are on. I am going to get 1 more unit tho as 2 dosen't quite cover a 6 foot tank.

As powerful as T5's appear to be, I would think more lumens would be needed. The current powerbrite led strips are only 50-60 lumens. The ones I linked to range from 80-400 lumens. I dunno :P

If you want some shimmer added to a T5 setup, any high-power point source bulb will give it. I think there's a thread in the DIY forum about using halogen bulbs and a DIY relfector... nice and cheap and most people loved it!

I would worry about the light spectrum form the halogen bulbs. they also produce alot of heat. I could show you the heat produced by a 250 of 500 wat halogen bulb.
