Is the Micro in this link common or unusual?

It is really hard to find Tongan micros and that one seems to have some sweet coloration. At that price, you should make sure you are buying it because you think it is awesome, not because it is "rare".

Thanks nmprisons. I do not play that "rare" game. I just did not want to consider paying that for a "common" piece. The price looks high I guess until you consider the number of polyps on it. Thanks again.

If you need to ask us whether that micro is worth 600 bucks, then it's probably not.
IMO, it's not even close to being worth that much.

The orange looks really nice. A colony that size is really hard to find. If you buy it, don't chop it up. Personally, if I had the money and my girlfriend wouldn't kill me, I would probably have bought it!

Hey Jasper,
A good point of reference to see if you are getting a fair price per polyp is frags.org you can do a search by genus and see how much similar colors are going for per polyp. Have you seen this site yet? I think captive propagated corals have a higher value than wild ones because they are already adapted to aquarium conditions and will not take as long to start growing, plus they are not adding to the strain on our natural reefs. However having something unique just brought in that hardly anyone else has may appeal to you, too. What's really important is your personal preferences. My .02 :)

Looks like F&S got their hands on a few nice micros. I think the prices are at least the going rate if not a little better, now find a friend or two to split the piece with ya :)

Jasper - Have you seen the piece KPK is selling? That one has over 30 polyps and last I saw he was asking $320 shipped. So thats about $270 for the colony. Not as impressive but still pretty nice.

OK I see one for $500 and one for $800, did the $600 piece get sold?
