is the olympus sp-350 a good choice?

I have been looking at digital cameras for a while and this is the one that I like the best. What do you guys think about it? Can anyone reccomend a different one that can do close-ups and distance shots? (in the $250 or less range) Here are some links to the specifications.

It looks good for basic picture taking and should get you pretty decent macros. I worry a bit about noise [grain] in high iso's because it has 8mp and there have been quite a few cameras with 8mp sensors that are noisy-- I think they just packed too many pixels in too small of a sensor.
I'm not hugely familiar with all that's available in your price range but I've heard good things about the Canon A620.
The best thing you can do is go to a camera store and play with eveything in your price range and see what you like best. And take a look thru the last several pages of this forum- there've been many people asking about cameras like what you're looking for.
