Is there a forgiving tabling acro?

lcs

It's Spring!!!!!!!
I'd very much like to have a tabling acro in my tank, but I don't feel ready for something that is delicate and finicky. Is there such a thing or do I need to wait until I'm ready?

I would go aquacultured corals, most have seen several generations in home aquariums..The one that grows the fastest for me is the tyree pink lemonade, because it grows fast, it is pretty cheap in the world of aquacultured corals and not really hard to find..

I agree with the above, do you have any SPS currently ? how is the flow in the tank?
could be hard to get the flow just right in that style of tank.

are you growing any Acros right now?

Table Acros probably aren't the "easiest" of Acros to grow................

agreed, maybe try a few beginner SPS, like pavona, motipora digitata/ capricornis, polliciopora damicornis is about the most forgiving sps you could get.

If starting with acros, then loos toward loosely clustered stags that have been aqua cultured. ORA frags have been in captivity a long time

look at their miami orchid, voodo stag, and the verde cluster acropora is pretty tough too.
best of luck

Thanks for the info! I do have some SPS, easy stuff - monti cap, digi, encrusting, pocci, birdsnest. Flow is good, but I'm not sure my parameters (Mg and alk specifically) are tight enough for the finicky SPS. They're pretty good, but I'm not sure if they're good enough, ya know.

I will keep the recommendations and maybe try one of them soon just to see how it goes.

I had a run of the mill Acro solitaryensis (Soli), or an efflo, not sure which one it was. Either way, tabled nicely, and seemed pretty tolerant. Made it through quite a few perilous parameter episodes in my last tank. It grew, but I think it's downfall with poor or wavering parameters was coloration. In poor conditions it was brown. In optimum conditions it's polyps were neon, body was nice cream color, and leading edge was a brilliant purple. If you could come by it, it might be worth a shot.

FWIW I've found millies and other tabling acros a bit finicky. I wouldn't spend the cash till I was sure things were stable.

What lighting are you running?

I would start with one of the more forgiving Acros (probably a stag type) and (if it does well) move onto a table Acro from there.

4 bulb T5 with
front
Geismann Actinic +
UVL 10.5
Geismann Actinic +
Geismann Aquablue

Blues on for 12 hours, whites for 7. The top of the rocks are about 16" from the lights.

Will do. Would a green slimer qualify? I would like to add some blue to the tank, would a blue stag work?

As an FYI my alk is usually 8-8.3, Mg 1290-1320, Ca 450, SG 1.026. Are those considered wide swings for alk and Mg?

Try a red planet, I'm having good luck with it as my first acro. Have mine under 4xt5, and my perameters are not as stable as they should be I'm sure.
