Is there anything wrong?

Okay..so I got my mantis last Friday. Since then, he has been in his burrow whenever he has not been eating. Today, he has been out, walking around and just sitting on top of rocks. I am just wondering if this is normal behavior. Also, my substrate is about the size of bb pellets with some shells mixed in. Is this okay?
