Is this normal?

I just got a black oscellaris for a week. The first couples of days, he slept at the same bed. He didn't host any of my corals or even rbta. But last 2nights, he just swim in the open water all night. Sleeping in the open water? Is that normal?

By the way, he's the only fish in the tank.

i wouldnt be worried mine did the same thing and ive had him for a while now. mine doesnt host anything yet either. i would just give it some time.

Your situation is common. I used to have Percs that didnt have a host and they slept the same way yours are. They will move around until they find a spot they like. Mine never found any live host, just a shell. I traded them for a pair that would use my haddoni.

FWIW anemones and corals "host" clowns, clowns do not "host" things.
