Is this velvet (pic)

My buddy just lost alot of fish and I think it was probably velvet. They had thse reddish brown sores on them from what he told me and here is a little out of focus pic but you can see it on the tail.

Looks more like ammonia burn/poisoning. Check your levels on that first.

He said they were 0 and 0 nitrites as well
